    OK I have a question here.

    Would it be easier to cut out the black and white bits of a film from the color parts.
    Encode them and then put them back together with avisynth.
    Or is there some script that allows each section be done all at once?

  2. What's the reason for the question? Are you filtering the different parts differently?

    But yes, you can encode the entire thing at once by dividing it into different parts within the script using the Trim command (as jagabo says).

    A=Trim(aa,bb)#.Filter however you like here
    B=Trim(bb+1,cc)#.Filter however you like here
    C=Trim(cc+1,dd)#.Filter however you like here
    A+B+C

    What has been suggested is a lot easier than splitting the video file and processing each segment then joining them together seamlessly. Whatever video format you are working with, avisynth will do it. What is your video format? Mpegs? Avis?

  5. Then open your script(s) in VirtualDub and use the mark-in and mark-out tools to mark sections and save them. Then join them all together With VirtualDub when you're done (via File -> Append AVI Segment).

    Note that VirtualDubMod has the ability to export it's edit list as AviSynth Trim() commands.

    I'll play with a bit to see what i can do.
    There are 19 switches in this thing and to make it worse it doesn't switch between the settings.
    It fades (blends) from color to black and white and then back

    If what you want is to apply different filters to different parts of the video, you may find it easier to do in Avisynth using ApplyRange.
