Nero SVCD Menu problem on RCA RC5240P

i added the menu (with a picture) on a svcd using nero 5.5.8.2, i put the svcd in and the little preview screen comes up... but now i cant exit it... thus i cannot view the movie....
does anyone know whats up?????

i press every button on the remote and a little white circle with a line thru it appears on the right-hand... (kind of like the no-smoking sign)

the first trial i burned with the pause on infinite... i burned a second trial with the pause on 5sec... same thing happens...

after this... i put both discs in the computer.. and went into the sequence folder of the svcd and played the mpeg file named "item0001.mpg"... this occured to the menu... and i played in the media player and it did not play smoothly.. after this i played them in windvd... and the menu shows up plays very briefly then freezes... i will try again without a picture and different options to see if this continues.. but i hate wasting cd's......
did this ever happen to anyone else??

also is there any way on a the RCA RC5240P dvd player where u can choose to play the avseq01.mpg rather than the item0001.mpg
