  2. I doubt anyone can help you unless you provide a great deal mor informations such as.

    1) Spiderman on CD, what format is it in (mpeg, divx avi or what)

    2) Does the original file play good on your PC

    3) What steps did you use to convert it to VCD. There are many tools and techniques available for this, unless we know what you did we can't guess where you went wrong.

    4) Have you tried following any of the gudes on this site (there are many). If so which one, if not take a look at the conversion guides under HOWTO Convert on the left of this page.

    5) If still stuck come back and ask again remembering points 1-4 above

    Good Luck

silly question to ask when the thread title is avi to vcd

    2) Does the original file play good on your PC

yes, it plays fine on my computer.

    3) What steps did you use to convert it to VCD. There are many tools and techniques available for this, unless we know what you did we can't guess where you went wrong.

I was at first doing a test encode to see what the end result would be.

I opened tempgenc, loaded the project wizard selected SVCD (for best quality pic), set it to interlace - bottom field first. I then clicked next, click on clip frame and selected full screen (keep aspect ratio), selected the range of film I wanted then clicked ok, then next then clicked ok ,with start encoding immediatey and then clicked ok. it started encoding then finished about half an hour later. Opened the mpg file and there was only 50 secs of sound.

    4) Have you tried following any of the gudes on this site (there are many). If so which one, if not take a look at the conversion guides under HOWTO Convert on the left of this page.

I didn't use any of the guides just encoded it.

hope this helps you to help me with my problem.

Ok, slightly silly, assume divx do I.

Anyway, what I suggest is that that you use virtualdub to extract the audio to an uncompressed wav file and try again, using that wav as the audio input.

If you want to do a test encode with a short clip, I would also suggest using virtualdub to cut the 1st 5 mins or so from the start of the movie, extract the audio from that and encode. This way you are sure the audio matches the movie. Not sure how well TmpGenc source range feature works with respect to audio.

    Anyway, give it a try.

    Good luck

  7. I found out what the problem was, it was a software problem with the sound card, I have unistalled it and reinstalled it and everything seems to be fine now.
