  1. I have successfully used TMPGEnc to make VCDs, using AVISynth as a frameserver from Premiere. It has worked beautifully.

Last month I downloaded version 2.54 to try out the DVD MPEG-2 option. By the time I purchased my DVD burner, installed it, tried out TMPGEnc files with DVDit and discovered they didn't work, and was ready to use TMPGEnc with DVD Movie Factory, my 30-day trial had run out.

I've now downloaded ver. 2.55, with the idea of trying it out and paying for it (especially since I'm not happy with the results I get from the Ligos plug-in for Premiere.)

    Here's my problem:

I can't get the new version 2.55 to work. I'm using it exactly as I did ver. 2.54. I don't get a message about my trial period having ended (as I do with my expired 2.54). However, when I start the encoding, the screen stays black and the frame counter stays at zero.

I'm afraid to pay for it, only to discover that a) I can't get the new version to work or b) I don't like the results any better than I do with Ligos.

What am I doing wrong? Will it work if I pay for it and give it a registration number? i would happily pay for something that works, but I don't want to waste my money.

    Can you help?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nina

  2. Well, I went ahead and paid for it, and it STILL DOESN"T WORK. I sent a help message to the TMPGEnc folks, but they said I'd get a reply is 2-8 days!!!

If anyone here can help me sooner, please do so.

Here's the message I sent to TMPGEnc:

I have been using TMPGEnc to make VCDs using AVISYNTH to stream the video from Adobe Premiere. I used to have TMPGEnc ver. 2.54. After my free MPEG-2 trial ran out I purchased ver. 2.55. Now I cannot create DVDs! I get as far as the screen where I can see the first frame of my video and I get a warning that I'm about to create an MPEG-2 file. I click "OK." The screen image turns black the timer starts to count but the frame counter and source position stay at "0" and no file is created.

This worked in my trial version. This still seems to work for creating VCDs. But not for DVDs! Please help!!

    Thank you
