    just woundering about vcd and svcd.i have read all about it on this site.the one thing i was curious was,if for instance i downloaded a 500 meg film in avi with a resolution of 352x256 and the quality was average,how much better would the film look in svcd format?i am using tmpegenc and virtual dub for vcd at min. thanks

    In order to make a svcd the bitrate of the original 550 meg file should be higher than 1150. If the bitrate is 1150 or below then you have no choice but to leave it the way it is.

    you can not take a vcd and convert it to svcd and expect to gain any quality.
