Same problem as me, i cant convert to VCD, join or multiplex using tmpgenc properly. Have you had any luck?

You may try to ad the MPEG-2 Plugin for TMPenc from the Tools Section. Since I did it, many of my encoding problems were gone.

I successfully changed Spiderman SVCD to VCD thanks to Stinky who helped me out. There is a previous posting all about this.
But what I did was have VCDGear extract the mpg and fix errors. Make sure MPEG2 codec is installed.
Then I used TMPenc and converted it to MPEG1 and that was it. Burned the baby. And off we go.
If you need more precise steps, I can look it up and give you the more exact details. -
Ive tried what you say, when you say extract the mpeg using vcd gear what i did was an mpeg to mpeg with fix errors checked, i think possibly my spiderman svcd may be corrupt?

I'll Reference (REF) two more relavent Spiderman threads.
1st thread is more about the "trick" (I'm not a believer)

2nd thread has good technical tips for how to best re-encode this movie and to correct for the PAL Aspect Ration.

P.S. If anyone thinks that the trick at http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcd or at "How To play MPEG2(svcd) in Panasonic DVD Players": http://forum.vcdhelp.com/userguides/97090.php works at same quality as original SVCD than let us know some details like what your files size was after the VCD headers were rewritten.

For me the DVD2AVI option worked best. Treated it just like reading the VOB files on the hard drive. Had to play with aspect ratio a bit to make it look right. But endedup with a VCD that looked just as good (or bad) as the SVCD did on the computer.
Think I ended up using 'FULL SCREEN', not 'FULL SCREEN, Keep aspect ratio' or 'Keep aspect ratio 2'. But otherwise worked like a charm on the three 'SVCD' files. Took about 8 hours to convert to VCD with 'NOISE', 'SIMPLE COLOR CORRECTION' and 'SHARPEN EDGE' filters turned on. Took the final output and used the TMPGenc cut tool, and two CDRs later we're watching the movie. Still need to see it at the theater on DVD though.
Couldn't get the 'fake Panasonic to run SVCD thinking its a VCD' working on my RP56 or RV31(?) standalones though. Way too much stuttering. Not even close to acceptable.Have a good one,
neomaine
