  1. I have a Mustek (562) stand alone and would like to record from vcd's I have to video tape so that my daughter can watch her films in her room. I have disabled the macrovision on the DVD player but when I listen through the video player (Grundig GV411-1) the sound fades in and out every 10-20 secs. I now becoming frustrated and need some help.

  2. Used to have this happen when I recorded shows off TV. I would record on EP, or SLP (Extended, or Super Long Play, I guess) and for the first 10 minutes of tape, the audio would fade in and out. This was over 7 years ago, so we're talking about an old VHS player AND old tape media (and probably "cheap" tape media).

Just for trial and error, fast foward well into the tape and see if the audio still fades. If this is the case (i.e. no fading later in the tape), you may need to consider a new VCR for RECORDING, not playback, or a different brand of tape media. OR try recording in a different mode.

If this is not the case, you may have loose cables that are causing the signals to fade during recording. You may even want to consider that radio interference or electromagneic interference are affecting the tape or signals during recording.

And before I get too wrapped up in all these great scenarios: the VCR or related equipment (speakers, etc.) used for playback may simply be causing the problem.

Just some ideas. Hope that helps!

  3. Thanks for the tips, however, the sound fades in & out even when watching through the video, on the vcr channel. The connectivity I have at the moment is just scart, should I keep the coax connected for recording purposes?
