  2. This isn't the reply that you are looking for, cause I have had the same problem. I recently got a new motherboad and chip and did a reinstall on my system. I've been encoding with no problems for the last 4 months and now I can't do a thing. When I try to open a file in virtual dub I get the same message as you mentioned. However if I try to convert without useing the full prossesing mode, it extracts the sound fine.

So I guess I'm also asking why this is happening to both of our computers(and yes I do have all the codec's installed), and does switching to 'full compression' and useing all the settings recommended here for vdub make a big difference, or is the sound quality just as good if I don't change the settings.

  4. well after getting more and more frustrated I decided to try reinstalling the codec's just to see if I did something wrong there. So I reinstalled divx 3.11,4 and 5 and now it works. I got an error that said my 3.11 was a hacked version, but that's explained on the vdub web site.

My suggestion is to try to install all 3 again. Like I said, I was getting the exact same error messages as yourself and was at wits end, which is why I did the reinstall. Give it a shot.
