I've got a DVD I'm ripping video off of but I'm not sure what codec to use. Mpeg-4 made the video choppy so I'm trying something else. Everything else I've tried has audio when I play it in Media Player Classic or Winamp but when I ad it to a project in FCE on my Mac it has no audio and it doesn't play audio in Quicktime either. What codec should I be using so that I get quality video and the Mac can play the audio?

    Thanks,

What audio codec have you tried? I would use a dv-codec(like Cedocida DV Codec) for the video and uncompressed audio/lpcm wav for the audio.

Or use mpeg streamclip and convert the dvd vobs to mov files with some codec.

    I was using uncompressed audio.

I tried the Cedocida codec with uncompressed audio and I'm getting the following error:

Error: No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format.

I'll try mpeg streamclip as a last resort, it needs Quicktime codecs and I'm not big on downloading anything Quicktime related on to my PC unless it's absolutely necessary.
