  1. Hi

Now that I've burned my vcd's (mpeg) I would like to compress them back to either AVI or Divx. What programs do I need to get? All guides are for uncompression as far as I can tell.

Well I can load a dat file direct into Vdub, but a lot of people are saying they cannot, so to convert the VCD mpeg back to a mpeg file use VCDGear 2.0

VCDGear can load your dat file from the VCD and save it to your hard drive as a mpeg

Now that you have the mpeg, load into Vdub
Select Video > Full processing mode
Select Video > Compression, select the codec you want to use (Mpeg-4 Low-Motion) ? hit the configure to change any settings.

Now select Audio > Full processing mode
    Then Audio > Compression
Choose Mpeg Layer 3 or DivX Audio 64kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo. And press OK

    That's it! Save AVI...
