  1. Does anybody have any pointers on how to rip just the movie and audio (no extra features) of a dual layer dvd so I can burn it to a DVD-R?

Try using yade. It allows you to preview what you are ripping so you can get exactly what you want.

  3. I tried YADE and couldn't get it to do a damn thing... nice layout though... but when I would clip on the files... it would shut down

I had the same problem with Yade, so I stopped using it. Now I can't find where I downloaded it from, and it's driving me crazy! I want to try it again since I installed a fresh copy of OS 9. Is Yade most effective in OS 9.2.1, or a different version of 9?

I'd like to try it again because it has that preview feature that DVDExtractor doesn't.

Yade will only work in OS 9. It doesn't work under OS X. For the yade download goto http://www.opuscc.com/download/FTP/yade.sit

  7. Is there a way to reduce the quality of the vob files without having to convert them to m2v or mov?

Very doubtful. Vob files contain more than just one segment of the movie. vob files are more like .sit files and contain everything together. Thus a vob editor would have to be able to decide which vob to edit and when to combine vob files and etc. I think you're gonna have to convert.

  9. What program would you use to change a .m2v to a smaller .m2v?

Sorry I don't think there is one. If you want to reduce the size of it you'll have to convert to .mov and do all your compression there. I believe then that DVD Studio will allow you to import your .mov file and burn it to the DVD-R.

  11. Media pipe for osx can take a m2v and spit a smaller sized one. When using the mpeg encoder select svcd and type in whatever bitrate you want. Like so -b 2500. anything higher than 2500 will not be a standard svcd if you go that route. Make sure you look at the options to see other settings are set as you desire.

  12. Well what I want to do is almost the same as you "Aneuploid". What I would love to do is take out the specials on some dvd's and burn the dvd with a modified menu. I need a good tuturial to show me how to rip a dvd and modify it to my needs. After that burn the files on a DVD-R and play it on my DVD reader. I tried looking at the tutorials on this page but they have them mostly for pc's or vcd's. I don't want to make a vcd or svcd but I want to come as close as possible a DVD. Can anyone point me on the right direction with a tuturial that actually helps and not confuses you to no end...Any information would be very usefull and thanks in advance.
