  1. Encoded a SVCD Movie using TMPEG´s standard SVCD-PAL templates with no problem and burned it to CDR with Nero 5.5.8.2 (no problem as well)
But when I play the thing on my standalone player the picture often playes jerky while the sound (ac3) has no problems

    Any solutions???

Firstly, did you create the PAL SVCD from a PAL source? if not, you will definitely get a jerky result. For best results the source and destination framerates should match.

Secondly, the Cyberhome doesn't automatically switch between PAL and NTSC. Are you sure you have PAL selected in setup?

  3. I used the SuperVideoCD (PAL) template from TMPEG to encode the SVCD from an AVI/ac3 file.
On my standalone PAL is set as the default system

  4. I as well choose the PAL svcd settings on Nero to burn
there are so many more things to choose in Nero for recording SVCD´s that I didn´t change and just used the default settings

I never had any problems creating standard vcd´s with the Nero settings even if I get the incompatible error message

All of them just played fine on my DVD player

It makes no difference whether you choose PAL or NTSC in Nero, unless you are using Nero to encode rather than burn. I am talking about setting PAL or NTSC in the Cyberhome setup options, which you appear to have done. The main question, however, is what is the framerate of the source avi? Most are not PAL, and you should choose the appropriate template to fit the source framerate.
