I am trying to encode a DivX clip to mpeg, and neither TMPGEnc or VirtualDub can get past a certain frame. When I view the clip, the frame causes a few seconds of corrupted video, which is soon corrected, and only happens once.
All I want to do is drop this frame, or replace it with one of the ones right before or after it so that I can finish the encoding. Right now, all I can get is an error.
Thanks much.

1, load AVI into Vdub and scan for bad frames. Video > Scan video stream for errors
1b If it finds bad frames, set video/audio to streaming and SAVE AS, save out another copy of AVI
2, Now that the AVI is junk free, load into TMPGENC. -
When I 'scan the video stream for errors...' and it gets to the frame, it crashes.
I tried doing a direct stream copy, and it was still the same.
I tried doing a full recompression and a fast recompression, and it froze both times when it got to the frame.
When I play it and it gets to that frame in VDub it alerts me:
"Error decompressing video frame ... An unknown error occurred (may be corrupt data). (error code -100)"
any other ideas? -
Yes, it does do that sometimes
So then you need old faithful "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe"
This is a hacked version of Vdub, this one makes a log of the bad frames on drive C, you can then use that log to delete the bad frames.
You can only delete them in sections, and run a scan again.
i.e.
85530
85531
85532 (delete these then re-scan)
94430
94431 (These will now be different (less the frames you removed))
When you have removed all bad frames, use streaming to save out another copy.
vdub-mp3-freeze.exe , on Kazza/Grokster
