i have burned a couple of dvds to dvd r and everything works great. sometimes the movie stops in the middle and it makes coasters. these dvd r are not cheap. so what i was wondering was if there was a way to check them or play them in some kind of software before recording.

There is a freeware program called daemon tools to enable you to use your image file (iso, bin, etc) as a virtual CD/DVD ROM drive.

if it's an iso file you can extract via dameon tool or cdmage and then use power dvd to check for playback, however if you are getting burns but getting stuck on playback I am thinking it more them media ( if you use the cheap sutff ). Not sure what is your burner, your OS or what program you are using to burn them.
