Best settings for SVCD w/ tmpgenc??

ok, I've been doing VCD on tmpgenc for a yr and now I wanna try the SVCD. I used the default settings and it's kida choppy?
for instance why on quality does it choose the motion search fast by default?
Wouldnt I want it higher? and my encoding times have really gone up. instead of 1:1, it seems to be 3x longer on normal quality, is that right?

What quality settings you use are very much up to personal preference. Some people accept lower quality for longer play times on one disk, others prefer higher quality with more disk changes. For advice on settings changes try reading some of the forum threads about kwags templates, I havnt tried them myself but they have certainly generated some long threads and many people (though not all) seem happy with them.
