  1. This is the error I'm getting when dragging the file into the new burn session on Nero 5.5

When it asks what the New compilation I choose VCD, but for some reason it is looking for SVCD.

It got past this at one point but after a couple of hours it still hadn't written anything to the disk, even though it said that it was 60% through. Any ideas would be great

    Cheers Madburna

    The error reads
"the file D:\ProgramFiles\Spiderman.avi is invalid, need MPEG-2 which was encoded for Super Video CD: audio 44.1kHz MPEG 1/2, layer 2, stereo/dual channel/multi-channel video 480x480 at 29.97Hz or 480x576 at 25 Hz

    Analysis of the file found
-stream encoding which is invalid for a Video CD
    -no audio
    -no video

Thanks - I just don't know why it wont work

You have downloaded a DivX avi. You must first convert this to MPEG1 to make a VCD or to MPEG2 to make an SVCD.

Nero is trying to convert the video itself (and failing..) Nero isn't a good encoder so it is advisable to use something else (e.g. TMPGEnc)

Follow the guide below to sucessfully convert your DivX to a VCD.

  3. Thank you so much for you time...
can you just tell me how I can recognise the original file format...DivX, SVCD etc so I know what type of conversion is needed each time I try to burn a movie.
Thanks again...I hate being a Newbie!
