If your player is capable of playing SVCD, you might want to try the KDVD template.
The mpeg produced is fully DVD compliant, full DVD resolution 720x480, and lets you fit approx. one hour per 80 minute CD-R.
As a matter of fact, you can burn the mpeg with DVDit PE on a DVD-R, and have a perfect looking DVD.
As an example, the movie "The Matrix" encoded to a size of 2,063,645KB, and that's 2hr,16mn. play time.
So you can fit between 4.5 to 5 hours on a DVD-R, or a full movie in 2 or 3 CD-R's at full DVD specs.
You just have to make sure your DVD player can play 48Khz audio sampling in SVCD mode. Most SVCD players can.
The template is available here in the main page.

  12. I followed a guide from the guides section of this forum (http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=84759)

which is Suppose to fit a movie on one cd, this is what I used to do the movies but nope didn't make a movie fit on one cd, and the quality was good but not great.

Do you have the kdvd template in pal?

I can't test PAL. I'm in NTSC world
Go ahead and download the NTSC template and change the output to 720x576 PAL, the frame rate to 25fps, and the last number in the GOP to 15. That's the "MAX number of frames in a GOP" to 15.
    Give it a shot!.

    Yes. It's designed for DVD's.
KDVD fits between 4-5 hours Full D1 DVD quality of video in a 4.7GB DVD(+-)R.

Only if your player supports 48Khz audio and @5,000Kbps video in SVCD mode.
If it does, you're in luck!, and you won't go back to a SVCD

I downloaded your templates, and I read the INFO file.

Either I'm too tired, too drunk, or too ignorant to understand how to use them.

I have DVDit! 2.3 PE, but I need hand holding to walk me through how to use the template to do a DVD to DVD-R copy of a movie.

If there is a guide or some simple (for me to understand) instructions, please clue me in...

I've just gotten to the point where I can make perfect copies of VHS tapes to DVD-R. I an extream newbie, so don't bite my head off please...

    Hey crjackson:

    You can start here:
    http://www.kvcd.net/guides/sefy/index.htm

You use TMPEG just like encoding any other movie. But you use the KDVD template for your final encoding. Your mpeg will be ready to be imported either to DVDit or SpruceUp.
