Does anybody know of any USB capturing device improvements lately?

I do have one, but not as good as the TV and video card. My USB device is connected to my camera for viewing only, which has a time limit for capturing. The video capturing resolution is poor with faded color.

Is the video card still the best way to go?

They have a few good usb capture devices on the market....
but the real good ones with multiple in and outs are expensive...where as there are lots of cheap capture cards that leave you money for other toys....

  4. With a USB captuing device, there is no way to send uncompressed video to the PC via the slow USB cable. So, the ONLY option for a USB capturing device is a device that has a HARDWARE mpeg encoder in the box. It will compress the data rate down to VCD, SVCD or DVD quality video that will pass via the slow USB port. If you want uncompressed full quality DV video, then you need to get a firewire analog to DV converter box.
