  1. Ey there. I'm new at this, and my first movie that I recorded to vcd was american pie 2. The video appears out of proportion, as if it is too long vertically, and too narrow horizontally. It almost seems the mpeg was set up to play in letterbox, but it fills the whole screen. The effect is long faces, short cars, taller and skinnier people than there should be. Sorry, I tried to search for this un, but found nothing. Oh ya, I'm watching it on an apex 1600 if that helps. thanks

You have converted 16:9 anamorphic video to a 4:3 MPEG-1 file; therein lies the problem. VCD does not support anamorphic video. You will have to re-encode the source material to a letterboxed 4:3 file. You should be able to do this easily with TMPGEnc - just suss out the output settings.

You need to check the aspect ratio on your encoder...TMPG allows you to chang certain parts but I can't remember what the standard VCD template allows....Best to change what you can...then hit preview to see what the output will look like ....if its ok ..then encode.
If you cant get it right get some of the template here that have been unlocked....then you can change it around to suite you..
