  1. Howdy,

I was encodeing a video from a d2v file and I needed it widescreen, but I didn't make it widescreen, and now the d2v file has somehow corrupted. I was wondering if it can be fixed from the mpeg?

    Thanks,

  2. Sure. Reencode your mpg again in TMPGenc and open the settings panel to tell the program your original resolution/aspect ratio and your desired ones. Install the right filters first if you haven't done so.

  3. Could you be more specific, please. I tried a bunch of settings on a small clip of the mpeg, but nothing I tried seemed to work. Is there any way to repair the d2v file? That would be nice.

    Thanks for your continued help.

  4. Load your mpg stream into TMPGenc.
    Load the dvd template.
Again hit the "load" button, look into the "extra" folder and click twice onto a file called "unlock.mcf"
    Now hit the "settings" button.
Now go to page 1 of settings panel. (the "video" tab)
Check that your output resolution is 720 x 480, and your aspect ratio is 4:3 for cropped widescreen or 16:9 for anamorphic. (Anamorphic is when your recorded data is stretched vertically, croped is when you render the black stripes over your final output.
Set your Rate control Mode to, let's say... CBR, 4000 bps (or whatever satysfies your taste)
    Go to the "advanced" tab.
Change your "Source Aspect Ratio" to how your original material looks like.
Render a few frames, turn the preview option to "all frames" and see how it works.
If it looks weird, change your "Source Aspect Ratio". If it looks adequate, with or without black borders, you're into the right path.
Is this guide clear enough? I hope so. Have a nice ripping!
