i'm using philips dvd825 w/ latest firmware. i tried playing the (s)vcds w/ the player in both pal and ntsc mode and they still were b&w on the tv. i suppose that means that my tv can only support ntsc? is there a way to fix this without re-encoding?
would an apex, for example, be able to read pal vcds, and send them to the tv as ntsc signal (so i can see it in color)?

What region are you from.
Im from England.
My dad had this problem.
He has the same Sony DVD player as me.
I started burnng all dvd's as NTSC format but they were black and white on my dads TV.
After contacting sony, I was told that some older T.Vs and some new ones were incapable of playing VCD's in colour.
Now I burn all dvd's and vcd's as PAL which is European standard anyway.
