Newbie ATI AIW 9700 capture

I have a new ATI AIW 9700 and want to capture some vacation videos from VHS. Eventually I would like to convert them to DVD but that’s the next step.

I am wondering what programs are best to use to capture the highest quality with?

I have a 128mb DDR ATI Radeon 9700 Pro card and us Moviemaker that came with my system to do "exactly" what you are intending to accomplish. I have had great success with capture and burn to VCD and DVD. I need to sort out the details of getting better "resolution" for both formats though. I'm convinced it is clearly an operator error and not a software/hardware problem.
