ok i downloaded Shallow Hal..
Used Vdub to extract the audio (AC3) and Headache to convert to Wav audio.
Then TMPGENC (toolame) to convert the avi to mpeg-1 (Vcd), when i pop it into my daewoo 5800 at first it played fine...as the movie goes every now and then the audio goes out of sync.. and the video hangs.
I did change the settings from cbr to automatic..( i guess this reduces block noise? max. 3000 and min 1000) used fps 23:995
What am i doing wrong? Please advise

maybe this should be moved to the advanced conversion?
If anyone could help thanks. -
If you changed the bitrate setting from CBR to something else (VBR?) it is no longer VCD compliant. Re-encode the video with the standard template and see if that fixes it. It is quite likeley your DVD player cannot handle mpeg-1 at higher bitrates.

ok ill give it a shot..thanks
Do you think if i change the resolution/pixels would it ge rid of some block noise/ -
Dont change the resolution either, again it would be non-compliant. Make sure you can create/play fully compliant VCD's before messing with settings. If you want to reduce block noise there is a tick box to enable this option in Tmpgenc on the Settings->Quantize Matrix tab, try that, but it will reduce picture sharpness too.
