  1. Hi all
this is my first post here, i've searched the forums but haven't been able to find a problem quite like the one i'm stuck in right now.

I have some large mpg files which i wanted to make into VCDs with chapters and menus and all that stuff - no problem, i've done it before.
BUT - when i load up the first MPG file (624Mb) into VCDeasy, the chapter section only recognises the file duration as 2:28, and won't let me add the appropriate entrypoints.
When i turn off the APS check thing and enable forced writing, it only produced a disc containing the 2:28.

I tried to burn the MPG using NERO too, and again it only produced a short disc, of about 5:20 in length.

I've searched the main site, and downloaded MPEG correction tool, MyFlix and other tools to try to correct any weirdness or corruption etc, but i'm not too familiar with how these things are composed so i'm not aware of the possible faults with this file.

I must add that the file plays perfectly well in Windows Media player etc, and scans ok when trying to edit in MyFlix or TMPGenc etc.

If you know what's going on here, i'd *really* appreciate some help!

    many thanks in advance
    Alan

Hi, I've had the same problem. But I manage to solve it by using a VCD-template in TMPMPEG and RE-encode it, after that "all" of the movie got recognized in VCDeasy. Think it's a problem showing up in files downloaded from internet.

  3. thanks - i tried that and at first it seemed to have worked - the whole file seemed to be recognised in VCDeasy, which was good news.
BUT - when i played the resulting VCD, there was a huge chunk of audio missing.
I checked back with the re-encoded MPG file and that too was missing audio.

My next thought was to try to rip the audio from the original file using VirtualDub but the MPG failed to load due to a "pack synchronisation error" - might this offer some clue as to why the original file wasn't recognised by VCDeasy in the first place?

These files were indeed downloaded from the net originally - not by me, as i'm only on a 56K
I have two copies of the MPG discs from different sources though, and each copy presents the same problem.

Any help appreciated, i'm running out of patience on this one!
    thanks
    Alan
