  1. I have just done a dvd rip of hannibal using sefy's guide, everything went fine except I had to use nero to burn because vcdeasy/cdrdao gave buffer underrun errors and would'nt burn.

Anyway the vcd's play fine on my pc and my pioneer 636, but on my brothers sm supervision 2500 the audio is constantly out of sync by about 1 sec. Is this simply a case of a cheap player that does'nt play the vcd correctly.

  2. haha, thats fucked. I dont know if you ripped in s/x or plain VCD. but perhaps the video or audio bitrate is too high, and the other dvd player is having difficulty keeping up?

  3. Its a compliant vcd using tmpgenc's vcd pal template which is only 1150 kbps, so I dont think that is the answer. If the player states it plays vcd's it should play them correctly. If i had made an xvcd and upped the bitrate, then fair enough but I hav'nt. Just a bog standard vcd

  5. I have a GE DVD player and my brother has a Sanyo. At certain points in a given movie, the Sanyo makes beeping noises, but the audio/video never get off sync. At the same points on my GE the audio/video gets out of sync.

These strange phenomenons have been called MPEG blips in the past. I don't know what thier cause is so I cannot tell you how to avoid them.

All I can say is that different players react to the same VCD/SVCD very differently. As my brother's Sanyo plays MPEG-1 movies slightly better, my GE is head and shoulders above his when it comes to MPEG-2.

  6. it's the dvd player's laser quality and the quality of the cd-r you have....

btw...pioneer's are considered one of the best (i have the dv333 w/ dual lasers so that it can play SVCDs that my CD-ROM has a hard time playing)

  9. Hi!

One tip that's mentioned a lot in this forum (and others like it) to attempt to fix sync inconsistencies is the 'demux - remux' technique.

This is basically splitting the .mpg into seperate video (.m1v) and audio (.mp2) files ...... and then putting them back together using a different method.

    It goes like this :
Using TMPGenc's mpeg tools section, de-multiplex your .mpg file.
You should now have a video .m1v and an audio .mp2 file on your HD.

Now, load up bbMPEG and use that to remux the 2 files back to a .mpg.

"What the Hell FOR?" I hear you cry ............ well, to put it simply, bbMPEG is very good at multiplexing and produces finished .mpg files that are 'bang-on' the VCD specifications ...... many utils, TMPGenc included, aren't quite so accurate!

This may help 'strict' DVD players keep both video and audio in sync.

  10. Heres the solution for vcd audio sync on your supervision 2500.

    Press setup button on remote.

    Audio menu 1:

set all audio out to 2 channel except for "others" which should be 6 channel.

    Audio menu 2:

Prologic set to auto and subwoofer set to off.

You may have to change settings in audio 1 if you have probs with svcd or dvdr.
