  1. I just upgraded to the latest version of TMPGE. When I convert a avi that is wide screen with the wizard the default is full screen. I went to the advanced settings and tried all the different options but they cut off some of the screen. What should I do?

  2. i assume you have a normal television, and your source is letterbox or something similar...

it's easy: calculate new widht and height, and set these in tmpgenc using center custom size, with sizes relative to the original

    aka.

    new width = 253
new height = old height * new width / old width

  3. This may be stupid but do I use 253 for all movies or is that just an example? And if I don't where do I find the size of the original?

  4. i am also having this problem. I did what Bluez said and it seem to work but the problem i'm having now is not knowing what width to put for normal televisions. I tried 253 as the width and maintained the same ratio for length. The ratio of the screen is the same, but it's too small for my tv. Right now I'm just trying to figure the dimensions by trial and error.

Does anyone know the standard width size for normal televisions?

p.s. I don't know if it's the same width to length ratio for all widescreens movies but the one I'm working on has a ratio of 2.4

    thx

  5. ok im using 320x133. I don't know if it's the standard or not but it seems to fit well on my television. and the ratio is the same as widescreen.

  6. just an example

    vcd pal: 352x288
    vcd ntsc: 325x240

as you may notice, the aspect ration is slightly different, so you migth play arround a little to find the distortion level acceptable to you

i tend to prefer slightly 'slimmer' characters on screen and accept a little distortion, it's a matter of taste

  7. Leave the pixel width and height at the vcd or svcd defaults. Try changing the source aspect ratio.

  8. I think you must use the VideoCD template, and change the aspect ratio for the appropiate source (or the closest possible) 4:3, 16:9, 2.11:1
