I've always used an older version of TMPGenc (12f) which seems to do everything I need. However, I've come to realize that when I use the MPEG tools, it almost always screws something up.

For example, join two file both with good audio sync, the resulting file has poor synching after the join.

Multiplexed sound to an mpeg2 file and the resulting file showed motion squiggles after buring to DVD. Files before and after were encoded with TMPGenc, not multiplexed, and look fine.

So my question: do the newer versions work properly and make it worth changing? Thanks for any input.

They work fine for me. I'm using the latest version. I can still get it to lock up occasionally cutting mpeg2 if I try to alter the position using the vertical arrows in the range setting - so I don't! I use the slider and/or enter the time. 8)

I dunno why but it seems it depends on the architecture and clockspeed used.
