  1. Using dvd2avi, then use tmpgenc to encode. Set aspect to 16:9 using wizard settings. On advanced tab, set video arrange method to full screen(keep aspect ratio). then encode.
When playing back on my wide screen tv it will not change to wide screen automaticly. I have to manually select 16:9. Same with power dvd, the screen opens to 4:3 with black bars. When i author with dvdit pe, it tells me that the format is 4:3.
How can i change this so it opens as a widescreen picture automaticly like the original film? Is there no wide screen(keep aspect ratio) setting? or equivelant.

  2. DVD and VCD are not the same in that regard, with DVD you can alter the dimension on the fly, but VCD/SVCD format are static, they are not changable, once you have the black bars in the movie, they are permenent! they become part of the movie itself.

If you have a Wide Screen TV, then you must encode the movie according to your TV, and not include the black bars, basicly, you should tell TMPGEnc that your output playback is a 16:9 TV and not a 4:3 TV.

    That should fix your problems.
