Semi Newbie here and i just bought a DVDROM for my pc and i'm using Windvd 3.0 (and tried 4.0) and whenever i play movies on it they play like crap. The quality is good but the movie is choppy. Not slow but kind of lags every couple of frames and it's annoying the hell out of me. It kinda jumps.....god i don't know how to exactly explain it. Well i've done everything i've read. I have two hard drives one with win xp prof. and the other with win me and on both i get the same problem. I figure i'll just use it to rip the dvd's and make VCD's but it would be nice if i could get it to play normally. Any info would be great. Thanks

I had a dvd player on my computer which was a 733. And it played like crap (choppy).
Looks like anything slower than a 1 GHZ is just not going to do anything for dvdplayback for DVD roms these days. -
make sure you have dma enabled on the dvd rom in the bios and in windows. That can make it play like crap if ya don't. I had a celeron 533 that played dvd's fine...but it was like crap if dma was off.
