Can someone recommend the best codec to use with TMPGEnc for converting an AVI out of a Canon G2 digital camera? Right now TMPGEnc does not recognize the format.

I have a G1.
You can open the file with QT and then export Movie to AVI. Go to Options and under Video, pick None and Millions of Colors (not +). Best under Quality.
Under Sound: No compression and 8 bit Mono will work.
You may need to have a licensed copy of QT. I think it's around $30.
Windows Media Player and TMPGEnc should be able to read the file now.

I just got this linkof the Canon Talk http://www.mainconcept.com/downloads.shtml
Download the Motion Picture Jpeg Codec.
I installed the codec, and Media Player and TMPGEnc both open the file.
