  1. Is there anyway that I could get a 1 hour 38 min movie to fit onto a 700 mb cd?

    Is there something I can do to get a 678 mb file size just small enough to fit on the cd? Maybe with some compression software o.O;;

    You can't do anything with what you already have without recoding, which would mean a drop in quality. If you want to do it again it is easy to get 2 hours VCD on an 80 min CD using a non-compliant VCD. These will play fine on most DVD players, but you would have to check first. Basically you could make a 2-pass VBR VCD. min-bitrate 300, max-bitrate 1300 and av. bitrate 800, and drop the audio to 128 instead of 224. Provided you can play it, it will very likely be indistinguishable from a standard VCD.

    If you want to get better quality than VCD and get 2 hours on a disc, take a look at http://www.kvcd.net 8)

    If you experiment along these lines, load one of the VCD templates and then load the unlock template. This will allow you to modify the areas that are grayed out. When you have made adjustments, you can save your own version of the template.

    One tip. Always load the movie and audio first, then the template. Particularly if you have not re-locked specific areas of the template, the dimensions of the mpg will change from 352x240(288) to those of the DivX. You can lock these areas if you want to keep a particular template by editing in a text editor.

    Finally, if you use one of the later versions of TMPGenc, the wizard feature will allow you to fine-tune the average bitrate to fit any length movie to exactly fit to one CD. 8)

    Well, seems to me you might be rushing just a bit. The KVCD stuff is a bit more sophisticated than what I suggested first. They are less likely to work, because they don't use VCD resolution. If they do, then that's great. I would suggest tweaking the basic VCD settings first, and then go on to experiment with the KVCD templates. But, whatever, it only costs you time and a few blank CDs. 8)

  10. Eeeek!! I got it to work great on my dvd player and it cut my 678 sized video to 630(I think) and it was on higher quality. I had to set the video up through custom size though when I did it a second time o.O;;

    Can anybody help me with finding out the sizes?
    Can anybody tell me a better way to set up the KVCD so it won't have the margins the way it does?

    I'm not sure what your question is, and what the borders you mention are. If you are using the KVCD resolution, it might be worth checking out their forums. I use basic (S)VCD resolutions. Generally Full screen(keep aspect ratio) is fine. If you are getting unacceptable borders, try playing around with the clipping filter.
