Ok first a rundown of exactly what I'm doing, I am downloading mpg files so no conversion. Burning into vcd with nero 5.5.7.2 on Imation or memorex 700 mb cdrom and playing on an apex model 1100 player.
so far I have burned 6 movies, the 1st 2 worked great with pretty good video and audio, then the next 3 all had problems with the audio sync being off a little bit. when I watched the mpegs on windows media player the sound lined up fine, but after I burned them they were off. all 5 were burned at 4x (max for my POS burner), then with the last movie I tried 2x and the audio sync on it is good. I was just wondering if burning at 4x might have caused the problems or is it just a coincidence that the 2x one that I just burned today works better.
now for my 1st unsuccessful burn, the one I just finished was done just like the rest except at 2x again, but the vcd won't work. This file was the 1st one I have tried to burn that is more than 700 mb, it is 776 meg. Is there something diffrent I need to do when burning files larger than 700 mb.
the Faqs and guides have got me where I am now with vcd burning, but I couldn't find anything on these questions so if any of you guys can help me out it would be appreciated, thnx in advance.

Also some people have audio sync problems you should do a search you will probably be able to figure it out if not I'll try to help you.
Good luck

Your problem here is the file is bigger than the disc, but when doing movies you are burning in mode 2 which means you can put 80 minutes on an 80 min cd-r so if the movie is longer than 80 minute (most movies are) it can not be done. You will probably have to split the mpg in to
The 776MB file will fit just fine.
The audio sync problem had nothing to do with the burning process. You may like to follow the steps at http://www.vcdhelp.com/sync.htm to try to resolve it. -
all the info I have been able to find deals with the audio sync in the mpeg being off, it's fine until I burn it onto the cd.
on the 776 mb file I mentioned, I just put the disc in and checked the properties and it only shows it as being 2.16 mb. any ideas?? -

OK more info on the unsuccessful burn, the file is around 42 minutes long. It's cd1 of a movie, when I tried to burn it the 1st time I got a popup saying that the format was incompatible for a vcd and nero would convert it to the proper mpeg format or something like that. it also had an option to ignore standard compliance and burn anyway which I had done with a movie before that worked so I did that, but that's the one that didn't work. the 2nd time I tried to burn it when I clicked ok to convert it said I needed the mpeg-2/vcd plugin, I got the plugin but it was the mpeg-2/svcd plugin. installed it and tried again in svcd format, it said same thing but this time it fixed it and burned, but the disc didn't play in my player. I have never tried an svcd in it so this disc may be good but my player won't play it. now what I need is the mpeg-2/vcdplugin so I can try to make a vcd which I know works in my player. does this make sense, and also does it sound like I'm on the right track.
p.s. I know the mpeg is good because I can watch it on powerdvd and it works fine. -
Finally got this movie to work, it turns out I had a mpeg 2 so I got tmpgenc and converted it to mpeg1. This is the 1st time I have had to this and after the file was converted nero still said the file wasn't vcd compliant and would be encoded before burn. the encoding took almost 2 hours is this normal? I left all the tmpgenc settings default and the line at the bottom of the conversion said "MPEG-1 480x576 25fps CBR 1150 kbps layer 2 44100hz 192 kbps". But after 2 unsuccessful burns 6 total hours of converting and 4 hours of encoding I can finally watch The New Guy, it better be good!
