mpeg2 to avi conversion

Hi,

For some reasons, I need to convert mpeg2 file to avi file which is editable in Preimere.

I try flaskmpeg yesterday without problem. But I don't know the setting in flaskmpeg so that the conversion gives the best quality. Can you tell me the settings?

It seems that flaskmpeg accept mpg file but not m2v file. Is it true?

Besides flaskmpeg, is there other software which produce best quality avi file in the mpeg2-avi conversion?

i find it odd that flask refuses to open .m2v elementary video streams(i dont ever recall trying though). is this a matter of the .m2v extension not showing up in the open file dialog? if so just manually type in the filename or select *.* all files in the dropdown box. otherwise, i know for a fact dvd2avi will accept elementary video streams & it will frameserve thru vfapi or output lossless compressed 2gb segments with huffyuv
