  1. ok, so I tried using Media Raider to extract the MPEG from the centropy spiderman bin/cues but it said they were not valid bin files. I burned them as SVCDs, and they work, but my DVD player only does VCDs. I tried copying the actual MPEG from the SVCD to the computer and convert using TMPEnc and Nero, both gave errors. Anybody know how to just copy a working SVCD to a VCD?!?!?! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated so that I can watch it on the big TV rather than the stupid computer monitor.

  2. Take your SVCD file, open it in TMPGEnc and select File-MPEG Tools.
Select your file name, then type a new name for the output file. Now change the type to "MPEG1-VCD". Hit OK. Ignore any errors.

Now you have an SVCD with VCD headers, that most DVD players should be OK with.

It's cheating but it works....and you don't lose the quality like you do with VCD.

    Hope this helps....

  3. I tried the mpeg tool already and it says buffer overwrite halfway through the process. It cuts off 20 minutes of film on 2nd disc and 15 minutes of film on 3rd disc. Any other solutions?

  4. I have been having the same problems. I tried repairing the mpeg but nothing, every disc stops midway through conversions. I've run out of ideas, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

  5. Did you make sure that the setting was "MPEG1-Video CD" under the MPEG Tools. Make sure you check it just before you hit "OK" becuase it has a tendancy to switch to "MPEG 2- S Video CD" on it's own. Set it back to "MPEG 1-Video CD" and then hit OK.

  6. Yep, I made sure it was mpeg-1 video cd but still no luck. It syas "packets 77747s caused buffer underflow". The file stops converting there at only like 24%. The other cd's do the same at different points. So frustrating!

  7. Quick question for people who have this svcd.

Do you get various bits of mpeg noise during playback on it? I'm not even talking during high motion scenes.

For example. Disk 1. At about 5min 50seconds into it when Peter thinks Mary Jane is waving to him and smiles, I have some brief mpeg blocks.

I noticed this when playing back on my DVD player. I still had the bin/cue and extracted the mpeg from it with isobuster and noticed the same problem when playing back with media player on Windows.

No biggy, but I am curious if others have seen this. I noticed lots of people complaining about it being PAL, or the aspect ratio, etc.

    Couple of answers.

Yes there was block noise in some parts.

To encode it down to VCD best, first use VCD Gear to do a bin/cue -> mpeg conversion.

Put all your SVCD mpg's in the same directory. Open up DVD2avi and tell it to show all files. Open up the first disc SVCD, it'll add the other files consecutively.

Save as a Project and Encode just like a dvd rip using the d2v project file.

    Enjoy

  9. I have the same problem also.

I was able to get the first cd to play as a vcd, but not the other cd's.
They would stop during the process with 20 percent left.

I gave up and did a full re-encode using nero to vcd.

yea the conversion is a real pain-in-the-ass, mine quits converting halfway through as well, if i'm lucky.

i was able to pull out CD1 but when burning it with Nero, when i play it in my DVD player, it plays, but theres green blocks everywhere and it is totally ruined. i can take the mpeg and it plays fine in PowerDVD, so i know it's not the mpeg.

you said that this is supposed to be PAL format?
i think i've been burning it in NTSC format so that might be problem....

haven't figured out what to do about the conversion problem tho, guess we'll have to wait until a decent group releases a worthy SVCD.

  11. Spidey, atually I tried that method with DVD2AVI and was not able to open the audio file in TMPGenc, it said that the .mpa file was "not able to be opened of unsupported". So i was not even able to start conversion. Did you use that method successfully? I'm downloading it again just in case I got bad files, then I'm going to try it again.

I tried this and it still didn't work on my dvd player, it still thinks it is a SVCD. So I tried converting using the help files here. From dvd2avi then tmpgenc. Well it seems to work but then I tried watching Monsters Inc and even on a cartoon I can see the audio is not aligned... what should I do?

Whichever method is best specified by all you video editors- I ask you pick a method which is playable on a wide array of DVD Players not just those Apex players...

I tried this method, but when I get to the TMPGEnc part it says" the .d2v file is unsupported. I tried to install the VFAPI plug in but I am not sure I am doing that correctly because it still says .d2v unsupported. If anyone knows how to confirm the VFAPI plug in is installed in TMPGne or a surefire way to do this, please let me know. Thanks

  22. I have the same kind of problem except my d2v loads fine but i cant load my audio mpa file which it says is unsupported?
    Quote Quote
  23. Why not convert the mpa file out to an audio wav file and import that into TMPGenc? Not sure if the sound will be in perfect sync but better than nothing.

  24. Im a newbie to svcd this is the first time I have ever gotten a movie on svcd 2 days after it hit theaters- so my big question is how do I burn the 3 svcd's of spiderman to 1 dvd and merge the 3 videos together so they play 1 after the other.

I have tried playing the svcd in my DVD player and it doesn't work it gives an error- My friend down the street has an Apex DVD Player and it plays my svcd's fine- So another question, Is there anyway to burn the svcd's to 1 dvd that my dvd player could read for sure.

I know that my dvd player plays vcd's with no prob- so if I convert the svcd to vcd would that degrade quality or sound?

Come on someone that has had experience in doing this should answer!

  25. HOPE THIS CAN HELP, I just reburnt it to a VCD!

CONVERTING SPIDERMAN SVCD 3 CDS into 2 CD VCD.

OF course you could just DL the new rip but if you cant find it, try this.......

I extracted the AVSEQ01.MPEG (also known as DAT maybe which is a MPEG2 for SVCD) of Spiderman with ISOBuster.

Then I took the AVSEQ01.MPEG and used TMPGEnc to make it into a Video-CD, NTSC which is 352x240 and 29.97 FPS.

That took about an hour to do on each AVSEQ01.MPEG for each CD. So now I had 3 AVSEQ01.MPEG's (I named each different like SpideyCD1, then CD2 and CD3.) I then went to TMPGEnc again and merched all 3 MPEGs together. That took acouple minutes too. Then I had a full 1.15 GIG Spiderman VCD 352x240 that ran in Real Player and Windows Media perfect.

Then with that, I split it into 2 Cds but cutting it where Norman Osbourne is in Harry's apparentment, right before that where its just a screen of the streets and building. Cause I hate when they rip it right in the middle of a speech someone's giving.

Then I had SpideyCD1.mpeg and SpideyCD2.mpeg and used VCDEasy to convert that back to a BIN file. That took a minute. Then I just burnt with Goldenhawk Technology CDRWIN and it came out fine.

NOTE: I tried do this with NERO and it did not work for some reason. I made several coasters, hopefully this helps others out! Have fun, great movie.

Special thanks to the MexedOUTRicer for help on this. HAHA Laters.

  30. There are two mpegs on the first disc because Centropy put a little intro vid (that looks like it was made with a comodore 64) on the first disc. I would suggest you check the file size, and the really big one would be the movie itself.

    =)
