So I recently bought a Hi8 Player off ebay and it plays video and has good audio, but the video consistently has black lines that will roll down the screen and sometimes split the video from the top. Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

It could be the tape and not the VCR, Do you have other tapes to test with?

With any video playback problems the first thing to check would be the pinch roller?
If it looks (very) shiny/worn out it possible is slipping the tape during play.
Always be very careful playing valuable tapes if you have a problematic VCR/Camcorder.Last edited by The_Doman; 4th May 2024 at 09:31.
