  1. Just curious, what is happening in this video that is causing the yellow in the bottom of the picture frame to flicker? Also if you pause it on the last frame, there is some yellow sitting directly above certain dark areas like eyebrows, near the nose, above the wood molding, etc. It's not really noticeable when the video is playing, but more so when it is paused. Wondering if this is something I did wrong, something I should/can fix, and also what is it called so I can look into it more? It's only noticeable during certain parts of the video, not the whole thing consistently. Thanks.

  2. Here is another example where you can see the yellow, especially on pause.

Looks like a color sensor issue to me.

Thanks. It is NTSC. I just really want to make sure it's not some type of Chroma issue that I should be trying to correct as I'm processing my videos. This is really the first time I've seen it, or at least noticed it, and I've done over 30 8mm tapes recorded by the same camera so far.

  5. And here are 3 consecutive frames I screenshot from the original capture showing the yellow stripe on top of the hand on the middle frame only and on her face in the 3rd frame.

So, this is "normal" and not something I should be trying to address?

Consumer camcorders that used CCD sensors I believe, I think CMOS sensors don't exhibit that nasty effect. I don't know if there is a script filter to correct it or not but capturing wise there is nothing you can do about it, I'm in the middle of a customer project right now and she has 8mm/Hi8 tapes and they are all like that.

Thank you for confirming that. Mainly just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I could prevent during capture or fix afterwards. It's really not as noticeable during playback but it really stood out when I had still frames up.

    Thank you both.

Thanks! I will check it out for future reference, but I watched this video back on my tv and it’s actually hardly noticeable during normal playback, thankfully! It’s so easy to become overly critical when you’re stepping frame by frame in the editing process.
