Trouble with nero etc

Hi,

I don't know what i am doing wrong but.......

In nero burning rom, everytime i want to either test burn or really burn, it keeps saying either " my media is not empty or its not large enough"

Now i know its empty, and its large enough (my .dat file is 450mb and disc is 700mb)

So i don't even get to first base with this software.....

Secondly i used NTI CD-Maker 2000 Professional, and either in the test process or the burn process my PC just decided to restart.......aaaaaaah

Can anyone help......any suggestions......

Ok i give up........

Can anyone tell me which program is the best for recording my .dat files back to VCD........?

I just want something simple as nero and others don't work.....!!!
