I have a video with .ass subtitles, and I want to embed and/or burn them into the images.

All frames in the video with the subtitle hardcoded into them. Like this.

No, subtitles_contact_sheet is a program for previewing videos, not for re-encoding entire videos. But you can use ffmpeg for that, that's what the program uses internally. You can see the ffmpeg commands by adding the "--cmd" parameter. You can see the command it uses for subtitles and use it in a command of your own to do what you want.

Hey, maybe Simple Video Editor can help, i tried it and it worked nice to burn the subtitle onto the video! Ellse if you want to burn subtitles onto an video you could try check out CloneDVD's free softwares allso, the one i tried is "CloneDVD Studio Free MP4 Converter" but i found allso some other free versions for mkv and other formats! However the CloneDVD Studio Free MP4 Converter i tested cant convert + burn in subtitles if the video has not any audio which was an bust! I see you have .ass subtitles, the CloneDVD i think only can burn .srt, with the Simple Video Editor i dont know which subtitle formats it can handle!

Edit: Both the 2 mentioned programs does not leave any watermarking to the output videos! If you're an fan of Symantec softwares you defenitely want to check out the CloneDVD Studio Free MP4 Converter as it has this cool Black and yellow theme with many video editing tools, totally free to use, not so many choices for video output formats and such things tough!
