  2. Uploading files through e-mail would probly take a coinsderable amount of time. If you want to convert from ntsc to pal you can you use tv video system converter (ntsc => pal) you can find it @ http://www.lik-sang.com/catalog/product_info.php?category=121&products_id=1686&PHPSESS...af3281541c3e04
I went to look for myself, if I get back before I return, Keep me here.

I was thinking more of converting the ntsc to pal here in canada, then posting the video to the uk so it would be just pop in the vcr and play.
It would make things a whole lot easier for my mum as she cant even set the time on her vcr. Quality is not a big issue right now. Im just getting into this and wondered what the easyist way would be.
    thanks

  4. Try getting the specs of the TV/VIDEO etc your mum has. Get the makes and model No's and check the manufacturers websites. It's surprising how much of the Video equipment sold in the UK in the last few years can handle both Pal and NTSC formats, conversion may not be necessary!

  5. Yes, most video recorders in the UK are NTSC compatible (mine certainly are) so you will have no problem playing an NTSC tape here. However you won't be able to copy it.

So what about vcd's? would i have to convert these or are most dvd players compatable with both pal and ntsc.
What im trying to figure out is if i buy an new sonydv cam will i be able to send video to friends and family in the uk, in vcd or svcd without to many problems. i.e having to spend another grand upgrading pc. I do know that i have to get burner(what type) Firewire card(what type) and the camera is a sony dcr trv25.

Ive been reading a bit on how to make vcd's but im still not to sure what hardware to buy. I know i would require a burner but im also worried that my system is not up to it. keep reading horror stories on brought this for 75$ but needed $750 upgrade to make it work properly.
So i was wondering if anybody could help me get started.
    I have 533 intel celron, 64MB ram, 15GB(ultra dma/66)HD,8xdvdrom,
3Dagp grapics.(emachines) Is my so called 2year old ETOWER up to the job??
I know that this might seem a bit long winded but im just trying to figure out what to buy now instead of wishing i had later.
    thanks

  7. you can do it with your system spec but don't buy a 24x burner something around 8 10x wwould be best for your system.
just frameserve from premiere to tmpgenc to a pal format vcd should be fine, less problems than doing the opposite. Or there are alot of places that convert video tapes at reasonnable prices...
