  1. Looks like i have a ground loop on my vcr (see here: https://www.avartifactatlas.com/artifacts/ac_beat.html), i get exactly what's on the video on this page (horizontal bars (2) rolling bottom->up)

My equipment is connected to one unique power source (which minimize ground potential disparities i believe), the antenna of the vcr is not connected to any cable.

I've read somewhere that one could make a special cable spilt in 2 with capacitors (?) at both ends and connect to the vcr. Anyway that's hazy at that point for me.

    Inputs are welcome

    My equipment includes:

    PC:
    - hdmi capture card connected to a dvd recorder, and audio cables)
    - regular SD capture card connected with s-video (the breakout cable/ plug is kinda loose...very old, first thing i'll check tomorrow)

    Satellite decoder /dvd recorder /VCR: they're all inter-connected with s-video / composite,audio rca)

    Lots of cables to check

I had a ground loop problem capturing VHS also. I spent hours with different cables and setups.

It turned out the problem was my internet connection. The ground loop was coming from my cable modem and over the ethernet network. I had to disconnect the ethernet and also unplug the cable modem every time I captured. I solved the problem by buying a Jensen Iso-Max VRD, which is a coax Isolator Hum Eliminator.

Internet may not be your problem, but usually the cause of a ground loop is something you don't think of or expect.
