  1. I have a Pioneer DVD writer from An Apple MacG4 (DVR-103PA) which having spoken to Pioneer Technical support can be converted to work on a PC(however they will not diclose how) does anybody know how to do the converstion?? Many Thanks

  3. If installed in a PC it only works as a CD rom or DVD reader ONLY!! No matter what software is used the writing side is disabled according to PIoneer Tech support.

    have you installed Nero (latest version if possible )to see if it sees the drive in DVD-R / -RW mode and is your aspi layer installed ?

    I think that the firmware for the apple drive is different from the firmware on the PC drives.... you might have to switch the firmware for it to work... if it refuses to take it check out over at http://forum.firmware-flash.com/index.php cause the admin overthere wrote a utility to force a firmware update onto the pioneer drives... of course this COULD ruin the drive and voids any warranty you have... but if its gonna work the most likely this is it.

  7. Firmware on mac drive seams to be 1.22 if i try and flash v1.8 pc onto it it reports wrong kernal any ideas??

    Save yourself the headache, get a combo Firewire/USB external enclosure and pop the drive in that. You should be good to go.

  9. It's been tried in an external drive bay USB and that dont work either!!!
    upgraded to ne w version of nere lasi night 5.5.8.0
    now nero wont even open with dvd-rw connected!! but works fine if drive is removed!!!
    what this kernal thing anybody know???

    Personally your questions are a little over my head.... you might want to try the guys on the firmware forum... they seem to be into all the firmware stuff and would most likely have answers for you.

  11. i do not know that you can go from 1.22 to 1.8 direct, you might have to walk the flash up in successive builds for 1.8 to take effect, that and you are dealing with a OEM drive as they have different flashes for them then the retail drives.
