Hi,
In MediaStudio Pro 6, I imported a vidoe clip which has a lenth of 10mins.
when place it on the timeline, it only shows the first 4minutes and 45second the rest is all black. Does anyone know why? Is there a setting that need to be set?
Thanks![]()

I think I have the same problem.
I have MediaStudio Pro 6.5 and I can only get the first 2min and 30sec of a clip. What I have noticed is my uncompressed avi files are 2gb in size at 2m30s. I have Windows XP Pro and NTFS. I can play the 10min clip in Windows Media Player and its OK. But.. MediaStudio or VideoStudio only show me the first 2gb.
I have started capturing in 2gb or smaller files... then put them together in MSP6.5...
So far this is the only "fix" I have found. I'd love to hear a real fix for it also.... -
varioeun - Do you have the Mainconcept DV codec Demo loaded? I had the same problem and once I removed the demo everything returned to normal.

You did not say if you were capturing DV type 1, type 2 or VFW. If you are capturing dv video type 2 with AVI_IO or VirtualDub MSP6.5 will only read the first 9 minutes (2G). It is a know problem with MSP65 and Ulead is working on a patch which should be availabe soon.. I use the MainConcept DV codec and it works fine. The problem is MSP.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.
I emailed Ulead tech directly and explained what happened and I received the following advise.
1. uninstall MS6.
2. Delete Ulead.dat and files in Windows\temp directory.
3. Re-install MS6.
4. Download the upgrade patch from Ulead site and run it.
5. Upgrade to DirectX 8.1.
I followed the step above and every thing now is working, I captured 7 mins video and I can see it on the timeline past the 4min 45secs. Hope this helps other -
I tried your fix, but it did not work for me.
I had a few questions about what you did...
I did not have Ulead.dat in the windows\temp folder, but I deleted everything in there anyway...
Did you have VideoStudio 5 or 6 installed at the time, and if so... did you remove them?
What patch did you get from ulead? I saw two.. (and applied both)
MSP6XP_patch.exe
MSP65_InstantDVD_patch.exe
I'm running Windows XP - So I already have DirectX 8.1. Dont know how to get it re-installed...
Thanks for the help... -
Mavruck, Based on your posts you are referring to MSP V6.5 and Varoeum is referring to MSP V6.0. The patches are not the same for both versions.

Lamont is correct, I am using MS 6.0 the upgrade patch is different from MS 6.5. I use Type 1 format.
As I said, I had to uninstall the MS 6.0 first then followed the steps outlined in my previous email. I'm not sure what version of MS you're using.
You may need to uninstall MS 6.x first then look for Ulead.dat file, hint: use a find function to find it for you. If you find it delete it if you can't find it that's ok. You then delete all files in windows\temp\. The safeway is to rename windows\temp to windows\tempXXX\ just in case if any of your appl. needs file in the directory, you can always get it back. But you have to create an emty windows\temp\. Reboot your pc then re install you MS 6.x. Apply the patch (make sure you get the right patch for your version) there should only be one patch for version 6.0. It you're sure you have directx 8.1 then that's fine. If not you can download it from microsoft web site and install it on your pc.
If this does not help, I suggest you contact Ulead Support and explain what your problem is they should be able to help you out. Good luck.
Clamont, you mentioned you're using MainConcept Codec with MS 6.0 without any problem. I heard it is a good codec but have not used it yet.
Is it good codec to render to avi/mpeg1 format? or it is good for something else.

First, when you capture in DV Type 1 there should not be a problem with MSPV6.5. It is only DV type 2 that has a problem.
