  1. I had a hp100i cd burner which I had no problem with.Sold it to my mate
    and he can't select dma on the drive,Is mother board supports dma the hard drives are both selected,but everytime you reboot the tick as gone.
    Not sure what motherboard it is but he is running Windows ME.
    Any ideas on this? I have tried to help him but I'm at a loss now.

  2. Is he checking DMA in ME or the BIOS settings? Make sure the BIOS is set to DMA and then reset the Windows setting.

  3. I had the same problem with my CDRW that is say only connected to the Primary IDE controller but not the secondary IDE. So I fixed that (in Win98) Device manager by selecting the Bus Master IDE Controller and under the options, select only apply to the Primary IDE Controller. AFter the reboot, the secondery IDE controller will be gone under the Bus Master IDE controller. You can thus select DMA on the CDRW and it will remain on even after reboot....hope this help.
