  1. Hi, I've been trying to copy a vcd onto a CD-R both on my Mac and a friend's PC, with not much success. On the Mac, using Toast Titanium, I keep getting a command error: " The file 'MUSIDO1.DAT' could not be accessed (Data Fork, -36)", and on the PC, using CD Create, I just get a generic error message.

Is there more to copying VCDs than simply using the 'Disc Copy' function in a burning application?

I have had problems with certain software in the past. I use CDRWin now, but Nero should also do it. I don't rate Adaptec software.

One guaranteed way is extract the dat file, change file extension to mpg, demultiplex and then multiplex using TMPGenc's mpeg tools and then burn as VCD. Instead of the demux and mux you can also run the dat through VCDGear, and then burn as VCD.

  3. Check for scratches / dirt also - they could cause problems.

  4. I can tell you that I just started messing with VCD's recently, and I couldnt get any software but Nero to burn the VCD. And it was very simple, just select "Burn Image" on "File" pull down menu.

  5. I use nero to burn my vcd's, and i use the copy disc option when i need to make a copy of the vcd. On my burner i have the option of 2.4.6.8 burning thing, when i try to use 8, it starts burning then fails, yet if i use the "2", it goes perfectly. of course 2 goes way slower, but hell.
