  1. ok so now i finally tought i fixed fuckin everything with the sound bein synced n all

now like its fuckin jinxed i get knocked out of my state of extacy to find that theres yet another problem.

i capture episodes of buffy the vampire slayer using huffy 2.1 codec
    in 480x578
    ..the picture comes out great.
on my win 98 system im using vdubs multisegmant capture option but il add that im using only 1 harddrive for this....so it captures in parts of 2 gigabytes n drops them all on the same hd... a ibm destar 80 gig... bout a month old.

now heres my problem......it seems someway somehow it stop recording sound during the capture.... so in almostl all the 2 gig parts.... halfway it all of a sudden goes mute.n the sound is gone a [note: once the sound is gone in one of those files it doesnt come back later on....so youl have sound and at a certain point theres no sound anymore ...but it doesnt come back after lets say 40 secodns more.]

anyway then i clikc on the next part and this has sound again..only to go mute somewhere in the middle again
on some of the parts it goes mute after 40 seconds already but alot halway ..each 2 gig part is bout 5 minutes.....

well there ya have it my info , my problem
any ideas?....cuz im really clueless and ready to cry
why does the sound keep disappearing halfway or at the end or at the beginning sometimes.why does sound stop durin the
could it have to do with the fact that im not using 2 hds for the multisegment capturing. and for the record...... yes there is constant sound during the capture i keep on hearing it, altho il check this out for real today,as normally when im capturing i go away n turn of my speakers.

the hd is 7200 rpm 80 gig n brandnew
why?????????? talk to me people, please
    and as usual.......thanks in advance

  6. Since you did not give much detail, I quote your statement "anyway then i clikc on the next part" and will use this as the operative words.

Remember that when you do multisegment capture in VDub using its Spill drive options, each of the segments captured will not be the same as capturing a single segment. I figured that somewhere down the line, VDub also segments the sound. This is why all you need to do is to call the FIRST capture file then the same will automatically call the other files.

If you are "clicking" on the segments separately, this will not work on the sound as the segment may only contain partial "audio." If you want to get rid of this "mutisegment" capture, try upgrading to WinXP and take advantage of the NTFS file system that has no 4GB AVI file limit.

If all else remains the same, check all your audio connections again. The last thing you want to do is to purchase a new soundcard as this may not be necessary. It just doesn't make sense that you can record the sound in some cases and not in others. Unless you are 110% sure, that's the only time you need to replace hardware. More often than not, i'd say 99% of the time, the problem is always with the software.

    Hope this helps.

  7. first off..icant express my self real good in english i speak it pretty good tho when uit coems to really explaining stuff.....well
and no im not 14, just foreign.

    il try re-explaining it quick
    ive captured a tv-show

    using vdubs multisegment spill system
i have now aprox 15 avi files of 2 gig.
there are some files sometimes, that maintain sound
however most will lose audio halway trough the avi segment. and this is in almost every segment

anyway, so your saying that vdub also segments the audio so some segments might contain only partial audio and that perhaps certain certain part might contain audio for other parts and that its really about he whole and not them seperately.
    correct?

then i have a question.... how can i encode my captures then with tmpenc into a mpeg file.
tmpenc cant open the first file n start encoding the whole chain.
ive got to encode all the 2gig files seperatly.
    or so i tough.
    perhaps im missing something here?

    thanks in advance

  9. M1dnight,

I too have had intermitent problems with audio capture from Vdub. I usually just recapture (from VHS). I guess you can't do that from TV. Sorry no help here.

Also, regarding my previous post, I didn't mean to offend. Your English is fine. I'm just one of the minority that is still offended by the F-bombs. Good luck.
