  1. I have a problem with the burn speed that nero is recognizing the burner as burning. It only says it will burn at 1x, which is making my burns take forever! I use the media from cd-recordable.com, and it doesn't seem to be rated, but I'm sure its 2x media(I think thats all that has ever been made). Tell me what to do!

Seems a fairly common thing, read my media report.

  3. being sure and knowing it 2x media are 2 different things. trust me the a03 does indeed burn at 2x, you just have to use the right media.

  4. Flystatus, where is your media report?
Mike, i say i'm sure its 2x because I haven't heard of 1x media. The slowest burning burners burn at 2 times, so why the hell would anyone make 1x media. Also usually the media is just rated at those speeds, you can still burn faster(most of the time it messes up), the rating just says its preferred at that speed.

I'm getting ready to tweak a little this weekend and try some of those brands that failed again.

Far as the rating goes, 2x media is a spec CREATED by Pioneer and not standardized, its not like CD-Rs. Unless the media is certified for 2x burning it WILL NOT burn 2x, it will not even give you the option.

  6. true i have never heard of 1x media, but then they never call it 2x either, TDK puts it on there discs jewel boxes burns at 2x, Apple doesn't ( maybe they are about the qulity of the burn and 2x is just a bonus ). I think until the day comes when the drive speeds ramp up will you see 4x 8x ect on the media you buy much like it is for cd-r /cd-rw. you also correct if you you could somehow force a faster burn it's doesn't mean it will not have some sort of errors o nthe disc. I get the ocassional few here and there on my Plextor as I set all my burns to 24x like it or not, sure some do not come out right ( very rare ) but for thr most part it's not a problem on the cd-r side. I know the smaller pits on the disc makes for a much narrow error of margin burn for DVD-Rs, and considering what the intent of the format I cannot argue with that. True I would love really cheap media that burned all day at 2x, but I am not going into a fit over it. I'll just keep testing and seeing what's out there and what works for me.
