Please download imgburn (freeware) and burn the video_ts folder with imgburn.

That sounds like you are doing more than just burning a DVD. If you are using Nero to encode and author a DVD file, then that error is saying that you want to put that file in a directory or folder that already has a VIDEO_TS folder in it. If so, either delete the old file or chose a new directory.

BTW, 'burning' is only the process of creating the DVD media disc itself. A DVD file is usually first 'encoded' or converted from other formats, such as Divx/Xvid, then 'authored' to the DVD format, then finally 'burned' to disc. All separate operations, though some software combines them under one program.

    And welcome to our forums.

It is very difficult to help you, since you are so unclear about what you are trying to do. You mention files with .avi extensions. AVIs are not DVD compliant. You were asked if you were only trying to burn a DVD or also encode video to DVD compliant files. Which is it? Both? You were instructed to use ImgBurn instead of Nero for burning. Did you do that? We can't help you unless you help us help you.

To help you, please tell us the following information:

    1) What are the source files you are starting with?
    2) What is the final result you are seeking?

For example, "I am starting with Divx .avi, and I want to produce a DVD that will play in a standalone player."

Or, "I already have DVD-compliant files, and I just want to burn that result on a DVD."

So far, you've only given us snippets of information, not all of which makes sense. So, rather than saying "It doesn't work, please help!" tell us what "it" is, and then maybe we can help.

Okay,to be clear.I have following Input and need respective output.

1.I have a .AVI file(as Input) needed to burn DVD for standalone DVD players.
2.And when I try to do with Nero 7 taking .avi files added and click on Burn I get following error message

the directory you have selected already contains VIDEO_TS directory. All IFO,VOB and BUP files will be deleted.Do you want to continue?

When I say yes, it writes but cannot play on standalone DVD player.I cannot see any contents on disc itself, usually when I burn the Disc automatically it exists out(mean disc comes out when finished burning).

    Hopefully,I'm so clear.

Note: The .AVI files I'm writing are downloaded movie files.
    Thanks.

@coinsdrop : you have already converted an avi to DVD, and are now trying to convert another one to the same location. Nero is telling you that if you proceed, the files from the old DVD will be deleted to make room for the new one. If you have already burned the last one to disc, you can say yes and create a new one. If not, say no, and choose a new location on your HDD.

@NaomiC : you have to convert your avi files to the DVD specified format first. Imgburn will not do this for you. Try DVD Flick or Favc. Once you have a video_ts folder, you can use Imgburn to burn this to disc.

To both of you I suggest the following :

    1. Ditch Nero. It is garbage.
    2. Do some reading. Start with "What is DVD ?' (top left corner) then some of the basic authoring guides.
    3. Learn a simple converter such as DVD Flick or FAVC.
    4. Always use Imgburn
    5. Get a Divx/Xvid capable DVD player or WD TV and save yourself the need to convert your files.

You can if you want - I believe it uses Imgburn.

Personally I like to test the results from the HDD before I burn, in case something has gone wrong in the conversion. Others are happy to create a coaster every so often.

It will convert many formats. Generally, if you can play it in Windows Media Player, it will convert it. However don't expect miracles if you are downloading you tube clips and hoping for DVD quality . . . .

Build mode first. Select the Video_TS folder, and Imgburn will know it is a DVD Video disc that you are creating, and configure itself accordingly. Then juct click the big burn button at the bottom of the dialogue.
