Can't capture in resolution higher than 320 x 240.

Go to tools and download free vcr. It drops less frames then v-dub and also you can select any size you want for capture. I have used it for 6 month's now without any problem.

Thanks for trying to help, but it didn't work.
Any program actually gets the capture sizo from the capture device. And the one I'm using isn't allowing bigger than 320 x 240. -
download the latest drivers for your video card, preferrably the wdm version. Then, make sure that you have dx 8.1 installed. This will take care of your problem

In addition to the latest drivers, I have had good luck with IUVCR from www.iuvcr.com
My board is an ATI TV Wonder, which is probably using the same chipset.
This was the only capture program that worked for me. I recently tried setting the capture resolution to 720 X 480 and it all worked. Of course you do consume 1 GB of disk space every 26 seconds at that resolution.
At intermediate resolutions I was able to compress on the fly with PicVideo's MJPEG compressor. At full DVD resolution the CPU (also 1.2 GHZ) runs out of steam, hence the need for a very large hard drive.
