  1. a friend of mine downloaded a movie for me from a web site it works in my dvd player.. i can copy the movie but can't rip the movie to share with others on the net. i tried ripping it with a dvd ripper program that i have ( works with all my other movies just not this one) i tried converting the file from a dvd to avi but that didn't work..the main problem is that when you click on the drive that the movie is in is show file folders not the movie there are five folders CDI, MPEGAV,VCD,EXT, SEGMENT. if you click on properties it says the disk is an ISO 9660 i even tried zipping the files up that didn't work either... any ideas what to try next or how to get this movie on my computer so i can share it with others

  2. I believe you have a VCD there. Look in the MPEGAV folder, there sould be (at least one) DAT file. Do this to convert it to MPG.

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. this sounds like a VCD...so you don't really need to rip it...u just need to copy the .dat file in the folder mpegav....

the .dat file contains the video...however, if you want it to be truely .mpg, rather than vcd file, you can use vcdgear to process the .dat file into a proper .mpg file (that means removing all the headers and info that a VCD adds to the beginning of the .mpg file to make it a .dat file for VCD)
