  3. I suggest the Lite-On 24x. It has Burn-Proof, so no more coasters (A HUGE problem with the Acer 10x...not sure if that's the one you have or not...) The Lite-On 24x is only $65 on www.pricewatch.com , and it can overburn up to 99 minutes onto an overburn CD-R! And it can write on 12x media at 24x! Plextor is nice, but their 24x didn't get great reviews. It's a variable speed burner, so you really get like 21-22x, not true 24x. Their 40x is NICE, however.

  6. The Lite-On is $65, and the Plextor is $165. What's to think about? You are using a 4x now, so you are used to 20 mins to burn a CD. With a 24x, it will be about 4.5 minutes. With a 40x, it would take a little less than 3.5 minutes. With the Lite-On, you can use 8x or higher media, and still burn at 24x. With a 40x (or a 32x), you would have to get the new, specialized, high-speed media, which also means more money. Again, what is there to think about?!

  9. Let me tell you, I would have never in my life bough a cyberdrive, but the new ones are very nice. I now have a 36x12x48 Cyberdrive (Bought it retail with Nero 5.5 for $71). It is awesome, it burns everything and is so quite. Most people can't say that, my friend has a 24x Yamaha and you can here him burning in another room. I highly recommend you purchase it here, and look at the reviews, they have the best service, I have bought $1000's from this place:

just because it has burn proof doesn't mean you don't get coasters as friends have found out

Either the lite on or the plextor would be a good choice but there is a reason the lite on is so much cheaper. The plextor is definintely better quality and if you ever need tech support from lite on you can forget it. the plextor 24//10/40 is probably their best so far, the 40 has new technology they havent really worked all the kinks out of yet and you can get the 24 for around $100 after the mail in rebate from plextor. (good till the end of may i think) you should really check out http://www.cdrinfo.com/ and see what they have to say about them. plus you can find a lot of people who actually own and use these drives in that forum.
